Caramel-Wrapped, Chocolate-Covered Pretzels

The only thing better than a chocolate covered pretzel is a chocolate covered pretzel wrapped in caramel!  I dig the salty/sweet/crunchy combination, and they make an easy “no bake” homemade gift.

Here’s how we make this fun holiday treat.

Caramel-Wrapped, Chocolate-Covered Pretzels

Start with a package of pretzel rods and a package of caramel apple wraps.

With a pizza cutter, slice the caramel into 4-5 strips.  Wrap each strip around a pretzel rod, squishing and stretching the caramel as you go.

Place each caramel-wrapped pretzel on a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper.  The paper that separates the caramel wraps works perfectly for this.  (Try to ignore the cinnamon rolls.  Go ahead.  Try. 😉  )

Melt vanilla or chocolate almond bark according to the package directions.  Spoon over each pretzel rod, smoothing and turning as you go.  Carefully shake off excess bark and immediately sprinkle with your choice of fun holiday sugars, candies, or nuts.  Place back on wax paper until the almond bark hardens.  Store in an airtight container.

Are you a fan of salty or sweet?  Or both?

  1. Beautiful, simple and delicious. I am a big fan of sweet and salty.

  2. I JUST finished dipping these. I’m wishing I did it this way now! That looks SO much easier!

  3. This is brilliant! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  4. Ok, seriously, these look perfect. I am most definitely a “sweet & salty” kind of a girl. Add this to the list of reasons I need to be your neighbor… 😉

  5. I have made these by melting caramel and dipping, and i usually overcook the caramel and it gets too hard. This is waaay better! I highly recommend sprinkling toffee chips! 🙂

  6. Love sweet/salty combo. Will be making these soon!

  7. Yum ! Those look delicious !

I am NOT a fan of salty things…but give me something that’s salty AND sweet, and I devour it !

Have you tried the pretzels and Rolo candies combination: – It’s so good !

  8. THAT is the best idea EVER! I love to dip pretzels in chocolate for holiday entertaining and for taking in to work. The guys at the office love them. But a carmel apple wrap to wrap around the pretzel – I am drooling a little as I type this! Sweet and salty is the ultimate treat if I’m going to indulge a little!!! Now, where can I find those wraps this afternoon!

  9. Love this idea! I love Christmas cookies but I would rather have a plate full of chocolate-covered pretzels any day! Love em!!

  10. Even easier is using the regular pretzels, top it with a rolo and place in oven to get it just soft. Take it out and top with a pecan. Soooo good and super easy!

  11. I am one of the lucky teachers who got these!!! They are VERY VERY good!!! Thanks Amy!!! We always LOVE your treats!!

  12. i’ve never tried using the caramel wrap before, I’ve always just melted the caramel in the microwave and adding 1 tablespoon of water for one package of caramels. Works great too ! I may have to try this way too !

  13. WOW!!! I made these with my special ed student for Halloween treats! Everyone loved them. So easy to make and really tasty. I have been teaching 28 years and I am always looking for new treat recipes. This is a big home run!!! Thanks so much!
PS. They want to do them for Christmas!!

    • Yay! Thanks for letting me know, Stacey. We love them, too, and they are so fun to decorate differently for each holiday!
