Caramel Pretzel Sparklers

by Amy on June 28, 2009

This fun salty/sweet treat is a cinch to put together with just four ingredients.  They can of course be adjusted and made for any holiday, but we especially enjoy the festive Independence Day look.

pretzel1 300x225 Caramel Pretzel Sparklers

Caramel Pretzel Sparklers

  • 1 package rod pretzels
  • 1 package caramel apple wrap
  • 6 squares almond bark
  • festive sprinkles

1. Slice caramel sheets into 4 or 5 strips (a pizza cutter works well for this).

pretzel3 300x225 Caramel Pretzel Sparklers

2. Wrap strips of caramel around pretzel rods.

pretzel4 300x225 Caramel Pretzel Sparklers

3.  Melt almond bark according to package directions.  Spoon over caramel-wrapped pretzels.  Allow excess to drip off.
4.  Sprinkle with festive sugar decorations.

Fun to use as edible table decorations or fun party favors. Enjoy!

Amy, where have you been all my life??? I have made these for Christmas – my twist is to dip in caramel, then chocolate, then roll in toffee chips. Yes, one does send you into diabetic coma, but as soon as you wake up, you reach for another one. I *never* can get my caramel melted properly, so this would work great! I thank you in advance for the five pounds these will make me gain over Christmas. :>)

You guys have caramel wrap precut to apple size?
In Australia you can sometimes buy Toffee Apples (always red toffee and green apples please!) but otherwise you have to make them yourself, by boiling up the sugar water – a highly non-child friendly activity. Those caramel circles would not help in my house though… I’d be sure to eat them before they got anywhere near an apple!
(Good thing too, because my kids eat all the apples before I could think to cook with them!)

I love dipped pretzels! Using the caramel apple wraps is such a great idea. So much easier than dipping in melted caramel. Thanks!

LOVE these! I saw these in a magazine and thought they looked so easy and fun for kiddos! I decided to make some cupcakes instead; I dont know why. The kids would probably enjoy these more!

The addition of caramel to dipped pretzels, looks like a winner. I saved this recipe, and also sent it to my best friend, who surely will be making them.

I make something similiar that I call Heaven on A Stick, but I never would have thought to be all festive with them. I’ll have to see if I can find Caramel wrap–how handy!!

Yum!!! I have a son with a nut allergy, so I’m thinking it would be easy to substitute white chocolate for the almond bark. Thanks for the great idea!
