Bye Bye, Google Reader

This one’s for all my procrastinating friends.  (Or is it just for me?) 😉  If you used Google Reader to keep track of your favorite blogs all in one place as I did… it’s gone.  Done.  No more.  Bummer!  What to do?

Subscribe by reader.

I just this morning switched to Feedly and imported all of my Google reader info with one click, which was super painless.  Yay!  An RSS reader is a great way to catch up on several blogs all in one place.

If you’re on Facebook, you can find me over there micro-blogging some thoughts that may never make it into full posts.  I also link to what goes on here.  Make sure once you click “like” you also select both Get Notifications and Show in News Feed, so you’ll see more of my updates!

Happy blog reading!

  1. My google reader still works! I wonder if it is because I use blogger for my blog…

    • You know, when I went to mine this morning it just spun and spun and spun, so I thought it was gone. But when I went back this afternoon I got the “not available after July 1” message, so I guess TODAY’s the last day. 🙂

  2. I just did the same thing this morning! Hooray for procrastination and also for how easy it was to move to Feedly. I really like it so far.

  3. I was very bummed with the demise of Google Reader too. I’ve spent the last couple months going through all my starred posts and pinning or book marking any I wanted to keep (it was good for decluttering, though!). I’ve been using The Old Reader ( for about a month or so. I was able to easily import all my google reader subscriptions. It’s styled after the previous version of google reader. So, if you’re like me and hate change, this one may be for you! 🙂 I’ve not tried any of the other readers, so I would be interested to know how you like feedly. I’m also being careful to not star too many posts so it doesn’t get too cluttered again!

    • Good to know! I haven’t tried others either, just kept hearing Feedly over and over… Guess I’ll either make it work or spend a lot less time reading blogs. 🙂

  4. I switched to Feedly Sunday night. I hate change and really put off finding a replacement then went into panic mode and opened Feedly. I’m liking it but I think I will miss the search feature of Google Reader. If I really want to keep something I’m clicking through and then pinning it.
