Bring on the Mundane

Other than discovering that we left the van in the driveway all night… with two doors wide open… and the garage door open… with my camera in a cup holder… (and found everything this morning just as we left it) there’s nothing exciting happening around here today.  And for that, I am eternally grateful.

Give me the endless loads of laundry; pick me to clean up the accidents of a just-turned-two-year-old who loves her brand new big girl panties.  I’ll take the routine chores; hire me to weed the garden and water the plants and warm up some leftovers for supper and bathe the dirty children and read Brown Bear Brown Bear for the 47th time.

While I’m cherishing every moment of my mundane days with my healthy children, I’ll be praying for Stellen and his mom.  Praying for the miracle that will give Stellen many, many uneventful days ahead.

Prayers for Stellan

  1. I’m reading this just as I’m cleaning up some pee off a chair from MY 2 year old who is trying out his big boy underwear. And I agree. Thanks for the post.

  2. Amy Lynne says:

Absolutely! As the new school year gets closer I am ever mindful of all the little things we’re doing or not doing together right now. Thanks for the extra reminder!

  3. Micha says:

I know what you mean. Our life has been in an uproar the past year and in the past month or so by the grace of God alone it has started to calm down.
The every day things I used to take for granted have become so precious to me.

  4. Chele says:

Wow definitely should be grateful! I’m praying for Stellan and his Mama too. Miracles do happen! :)

  5. Step says:

Amen to the mundane! I’ve heard of little Stellan and have been praying for him. I just cannot imagine the turmoil his family has been through. You know, when I get to griping about silly, insignificant things, I stop myself and praise God for my 3 healthy children, my wonderful husband (and that he survived a round of lay-offs at his company — we live in Michigan, auto industry), nice home and happy life we have here. Really, you don’t need more than that!

  6. I second that emotion!
