About
Welcome to The Finer Things in Life! AmysFinerThings.com is a lifestyle blog dedicated to Embracing the Extraordinary in Every Day. This site encourages frugal, simple, at-home living; nurturing relationships as a faith-filled mother and wife; and living well for less.
Currently, I’m writing a series called Why Didn’t Anyone Tell Me? all about pregnancy, natural childbirth, and newborn care. Oh, the things we wish we knew the first time around!
Mommy, Come Home is a series I wrote last year. It’s my heart’s desire that any woman who wants to stay home and raise her children would be able to do so.
Finer Things Friday is a fun weekly link up where we share all the best things in life… that aren’t things! You should join us!
My recipe posts are some of my most popular. Seems we all like to eat! Here are a few favorites:
- Baked Beans with a Kick
- Brown Bag Burritos
- Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Rolls
- Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Pie
- Tortilla Roll-Ups
I’d love to share The Finer Things in Life with you more often! You can find me here:
Enjoy your visit! If you’re feeling discouraged today, try to remember that Somebody Wants What You Have.
Do not lay up for yourselves an earthly treasure… Make it your practice instead to store up heavenly treasure… Remember, where your treasure is, there your heart is also. Matthew 6:19-21

Hi, I just came across your site! I love it. I am also from a small town in Kansas. What part of kansas are you from? We live in the southeast corner. Anyway…GREAT site!
I just came across your site as well (thru The Organization Junkie). I blog from a small town in Kansas as well. It’s truely a blessing to raise a family here. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
I just found your blog and have been really enjoying it! I, too, am from a tiny town in Kansas. I am a stay-at-home mom, striving to do just about exactly what you mentioned above. God bless!
Hi Amy,
I just found your site and have enjoyed myself looking through your Mommy Come Home series, as well as a host of other things.
Kansas! I miss Kansas. I lived there for about 12 years (including attending college). Now I am many miles away. I am a working mom and wife, with 2 kiddos and 1 on the way. I am in prayer about when I can become the full-time SAHM. I am looking forward to it.
Thanks for your insights.
@Tasmin, Thanks for stopping by and saying hi! Good to know you!
Hi Amy! I’m also from a small town in Kansas. I have been a SAHM for for 23 years now. I have 2 children in college, and 1 in jr. high. Sometimes I feel guilt that I’m still home with my children being as old as they are. I am still here for my older children, and now my elderly parents, too. This is who I am, and who I want to be. I can’t even begin to name all of the jobs that make up who I am. I spend a lot of time couponing, and watching sales, just so I can remain at home. I look forward to one day being a SAHG (stay at home grandma)!
Found you through checking out all the links on Kingdom First Mom’s FB and Blog sites. Looking forward to following you as I have just read through your freezer inventory post and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing your life.
p.s. how do I put my picture in the quilt square? thx. : – )

Love your blog! Will be following…
Hi Amy,
I saw you tweet about your new about page @ # savvyblogging a few days ago. I came to check it out! It looks great. Very informative. I really like how you have included links to your series and some popular posts. I’m a fairly new reader so it gives me a great place to start. Can’t wait to read the Mommy Come Home series.
All the credit goes to the advice I found on Amy’s site. Before then, I simply had a short paragraph about ME, and nothing about my blog. Whoops!
