I love the idea of using bins to keep everything organized. I buy meat in bulk from the butcher and this has made a world of different for me. I use old diaper boxes instead of plastic crates, but it works perfectly!

This is a great post. I post about freezer cooking every Friday. I like your ideas. I recently helped my sister organize her upright freezer with the small crates from the Dollar Tree.

@Joelle, I have no idea how many cubic feet it has, but it looks to be about 4 feet long by 2 1/2 or so feet wide. Does that help?

Amy, how big is your freezer? I am looking into buying a chest freezer and am not sure what size to get. I was thinking 7 cu ft. might be adequate for the next few years. (We don’t have kids yet but plan to, sometime soon.) My little freezer above my fridge has only been working out so far because I only buy frozen fruit and veggies when I have space! It’s crazy.

I never thought of crates! My deep freezer in my basement is so big, I think you could fit people in there! It only has two slightly raised “shelves” but other than that, just one huge space. My feet actually come off the floor when I reach to get something.

I am going to buy crates this weekend! Great idea.

That foil idea is brilliant! I don’t usually make casseroles to put in the freezer because I don’t have enough baking pans to do so… but now I don’t need to worry about that! Thanks for the idea =D

I am guilty of using the flimsy pans, and of cleaning and reusing them. Just last night, when I almost dumped the whole pan of enchiladas I was cooking because the pan was folding in half, I thought, I have really got to find a better way. I’m definitely going to try your method next time.
