It’s Week 2 of the 30-Day Giving Challenge. My favorite part about this whole event (well, besides God amazing me with his own giving abilities time and time again) is reading and learning from others. There is so much creative, inspiring giving going on! Here’s how we gave this week.
Day 8: Made Layered Chocolate Pie Dessert for a church fundraiser. Worked the fundraiser for a few hours.
Day 9: Donated 2 games to Toys for Tots.
Day 10: Mailed our annual check to one of my favorite non-profit organizations ~ The Couple to Couple League.
Day 11: Planned for and taught high school confirmation class at church.
Day 12: Downloaded Kid-Friendly Recipes with a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. (This is a great e-book. You should get yourself a copy!)
Day 13: Invited friends for supper. Fixed barbecue brisket, twice-baked potato casserole, rolls, veggies, and apple crisp. Sent birthday and Christmas gifts to my goddaughter in Albuquerque.
Day 14: Ate at a church-sponsored breakfast with a free-will donation. I’m all about fundraisers that involve food I don’t have to cook.
Two weeks down, two to go. I already have a couple of opportunities in mind for next week, but it’s so much fun when God places one in front of me at the last minute, too!

I don’t mean for this to sound super rude, but isn’t this almost bragging about all the good things you do? I think it’s great that everyone is participating in 30 days of giving, but don’t really understand the need to share every single thing you do. It almost seems like you are giving yourself a pat on the back for good deeds. Just something to think about.
@Nicki, Actually, the spirit of the 30-Day Giving Challenge and the purpose of writing updates is to encourage each other and give ideas for… well… giving.
Over and over (with the people who are involved in the challenge) we’ve shown that there are so many ways to give other than money.
I enjoy reading others’ updates. I’m encouraged by all the creativity shown and it spurs me on to think outside myself and my own wants and needs.
My apologies if you read it as bragging; I certainly don’t intend it that way.
I know what the above commenter meant, the whole right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing sort of thing, but I do NOT think you are bragging. I visited your blog last week, too and was inspired by your 30 days of giving. I think it’s an awesome challenge and shows us how we should think ALL the time. I can’t say I give most days, except maybe of myself to stay home and teach my kids. I bought a casserole for a friend who’s on semi-bedrest this week. I wanted to make her one and did a few weeks ago, but had one of those weeks:) Keep it up- you are inspiring others to try to get into the spirit of giving.
I think it’s a great thing you are doing. I also think sometimes when we blog it seems like we are tooting our own horn, but I know for me, it keeps me committed to doing the things I need and want to do.
Thanks for sharing Amy!

Thank you for sharing what you have been doing, Amy! This has opened my eyes to seeing what I can do. It helps to see what others do, so I can get some unique ideas, too.
